that's how I feel about this weekend, so to speak.
fuck it.
nothing is more aggravating than when people don't show up for work and then pull the "oh, I thought I told you I wasn't going to be there"
o really?
then why the hell didn't you answer the 6 phone calls, 3 voicemails, and 2 text messages? didn't get them huh? isn't that coincidence.
anyway, I don't know how many of you are actually reading this blog, hopefully it's more than 3, but I hope you enjoy these mindless ramblings, and the ones that actually do matter.
anyway... there's a cool blog you guys should check out. it's the personal blog of one of my favorite writers/directors, kurt sutter, the guy who wrote for the shield and now writes and directs sons of anarchy.
if you get a moment, check it out. some of his views are really screwed up, but he writes great television.

over and out.

I want this.

I don't have much brand loyalty. When it comes to vehicles, I want everything from american muscle cars to italian sports cars to english suvs. As far as beverage and food choices, I'll pretty much eat anything good.
the only two things I find myself really loyal to are the swoosh and the jumpman.
however, over the last year or so, a new brand has joined the ranks.
when I think of where I want to be in 5 years, I think of this.

this was the line outside of the hundreds los angeles at 2 a.m. on black friday. if you've never heard of the hundreds, they're possibly the biggest thing coming out of california right now in regards to clothing PERIOD. two law school dropouts by the name of ben and bobby started this FIVE years ago and they've got this, a new worth of a couple mill, two flagship stores, more collaborations than I care to name, and over 400 retailers.
this isn't outside of toys r us the night before the drop of elmo. this isn't best buy because they've giving away 60 inch flat screens for $100. this is a brand you've probably never heard of, selling t-shirts, hoodies, and jeans, with a couple hundred kids just sitting outside the store.
wanna talk about brand loyalty? how about burning the shirt off your back for a free logo t-shirt. think that's crazy?

he didn't.
and when the sun started rising, it didn't slow down either. these guys had people lined up for hours on end.

you've got people sitting outside, doing their HOMEWORK on the street corner, all so that they can save $10 here, $30 here, on clothing, that they would have probably bought anyway.

and for what? all for T-SHIRTS. that's loyalty. that's a movement. that's more than just liking the graphic on the front of a piece of cotton. that's the power of connecting with the youth of america. and that is what I want.

oh, and by the way, those collaborations that I mentioned earlier, the ones I said were too many to name. well here's one I will mention because on a personal level it relates to my youth and time spent with my family whom I love dearly.

anything is possible. see you in 5 years.

Give thanks...

ahh.. another year by, another I'm not getting back. time sure does fly.
well for starters, tuesday to today has been a rush. I was running through the halls at school at one moment, and then I was eating hot and spicy mcchicken's in a drunken stupor at 2:30 a.m. the next.
After roughly 9 or so hours of being on road altogether, I was able to see my family whom I love so much and got to enjoy a winter home as well as some great FOOD.
if anyone reading this has an xbox 360, I would suggest left 4 dead and dc vs. mortal kombat with some of your spendings. very well worth the purchase.
as well, I did purchase some quality media at best buy, including the rocketeer (step your early 90s movie knowledge up), the inside man, and of course 808's and Heartbreak. go out and buy that album if you haven't already.
I'll have more to talk about tomorrow. I'm just really in a rush still. there's this thing called bayou classic going on and everyone I work with seems to be in a frenzy about it.

case of the mondays

today is sucking big time. weather looks shitty outside, like it's about to rain or some shit. school tomorrow, not looking forward to that, nor about pretending to be barack obama in my performance studies class.

anybody wear a 9.5? I got some piet mondrian sb's I need to unload. I might even get rid of my supreme backpack. need to start putting money aside for some real life shit. nah, scratch that, not selling my backpack.

monday night football tonight. need a win from the saints. debating on whether or not I'm going to play any on that game. need to get left 4 dead for 360, saw some videos of that shit, kind of ridiculous gameplay.

2 more days until!

re:cap

man... long busy weekend for real. started that shit off working friday, making some things shake, and then me and j hit up the white light night in mid-city. supposed to be a small vendor appreciation kind of thing, but in reality, that's all just an excuse for the uppity crowd to pretend they're into art and shit. lol there was beer though, so we took in the environment and tried to enjoy it.

bud light, not my favorite, but the best of what was available.

this is pretty much what the crowd looked like. nothing special really, art was overpriced, sub-par quality. I can't really get into events like this, they're really well put together, coordination wise that is, it's just the event itself is whatever.
that was all for friday. saturday, after some more work, we took off back to new orleans for the q-tip and cool kids show with the knux. now i'll be completely honest, i've never listened to the knux or the cool kids, but i had a pretty good idea of what to expect and i was pretty dead on.

no hate, but i can't get down with the cool kids. at least not after first listen. maybe if i listen to them some more, i'll start vibing with the boys, but to me, it just sounded like a bunch of "nintendo this, fruit loops that, nike sb, you ain't on these" bullshit. regardless, they rocked the crowd, the people there were lovin' the shit so props to the dudes, they did their thing.
after them, tip came on and to be honest, dude blew my mind. maybe it was the crazy ass dancing, or the facial expressions, but dude was live. got all in the crowd and everything.

last image of the weekend, which had me laughing outside the HOB because it's a commentary on how I NEVER want to be. of all the people standing outside the buses, waiting to meet the Cool Kids, 92% of them were dudes. seriously? nah, I'll pass. overall good show though, and a good weekend. props to my homegirl Monet gettin' on the mic and rockin' with the Cool Kids, didn't realize it was her until after the show.

busy thursday

yesterday was a busy day. I know, like every day isn't busy, huh.
first things first, took care of some business early in the morning, and then, it was off to pick up my latest purchase.

yeah, I'm digging these.

then, I hit up mike and we shot down to the crescent city to take care of some more business. went to re:fresh to holler at the homies cypher, lu and wayne. store was pretty quiet so we just cut it up about what's really good... women, pornos, women and pornos, the presidential election, the welcoming committee at the RNC, and the direction of music and streetwear. broke off my homies with some of that new bsbcbu winter 08' and let them know whats coming up.

wayne and lu watching the video from the RNC. wayne is deep into all the government conspiracy theory shit. getting away from all that, Cypher let me know that the next mixtape is coming real soon.

be sure to peep all my homies on myspace music.

and fuck with moneybags because we do.

money bags x bsbcbu is coming. no more bullshit, just real shit.

Inches.

I love sports, I love movies, I love Pacino, and I'm a fan of Oliver Stone. If you've never seen Any Given Sunday, go rent it, it should cost you like $2 bucks, hell, just go buy it for like $5 more. But this speech, this 4 minutes of video, will just about motivate you to do anything. Pacino is such a monster.

the tag team champs are back...

the nastiest hip-hop duo returns this dec. 1 with another mixtape classic Road to Till the Casket Drops. Yup, that's right, I'm talking about The Clipse. If you don't fuck with The Clipse already, climb out from under that rock and do me a favor. Run over to Best Buy and go buy their 2nd album Hell Hath No Fury. Then, run over to the bootleg man, and cop their WGIFC: Vol 3. Mixtape. That's their two most recent releases (exception, the RE:UP Gang CD, but I don't even mess with that one because it's basically WGIFC Vol. 3, just not as good).

Road to Till The Casket Drops will be up for download on Complex.com on Dec. 1... but until then.. here's the intro track.

UGHHCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

time is money vol. 2

If you know anything about me, you know there's a couple of material items I'm really into, one of them being g-shocks. I've been wearing them since I was like 8 (with the exception of this phase in like the 6th grade where it wasn't 'cool' to have a digital watch anymore), and I was wearing them long before they were in everyone's raps.
As well, a company I really admire, LRG, is releasing their 2nd collaboration with G-Shock soon. I've got their first one, the LRG Time is Money DW-6900 (thanks to Woodie over at LRG and a little luck), but I really need this joint. Frogman's are just... ugh nasty. And I need another white watch that goes with just a little more, and this fits the bill perfectly.
Keep checkin' for updates, as I will be posting ACTUAL pictures eventually.

the next MJ...

IF there's anyone from my generation of music who will ever be remembered for his contributions to popular music on a scale to Michael Jackson, it's definitely going to be either Kanye West or the above. Justin Timberlake was part of the arguably the biggest boy band of the 90s, and he's also the only one from that entire era to transcend as not only a successful actor, but a phenomenal solo artist.
He recently jumped on T-Pain's remix to "Can't Believe It" and to be honest, the shit is raw. I didn't like the original version to the song, but I'll be honest, it grew it on me.

You can download it here if you're interested in adding it to your iTunes. I did.

Also, peep this new video off of SNL for a good laugh.

Also, can't forget to mention, Timberlake's girl is wicked hot. And as far as the title goes, of course I didn't mean Michael Jordan. As if another MJ like that is possible.

dedication 3

I don't really listen to Weezy like that, but I figured this would be something some of you would like. Lil Wayne's 'highly anticpated' Dedication 3 Gangsta Grillz dropped yesterday. Because I'm nice, I've provided you with the link for your listening pleasure. I haven't listened to it yet, so let me know if it's good.
